After a three-month pause during the movement control order (MCO) period, Speedy Video Distributors Sdn Bhd today announced a permanent stop to operations of all its retail outlets nationwide.
The decision made amid a shift in demand towards streaming services and digital downloads was announced on its Facebook page, alongside a clearance promotion for a wide range of DVDs, Blu Rays, box sets and others.
"Dear customers, our company are sadly [sic] to announce that we are going to close down all of our outlets soon.
"All outlets currently are having closing down sales. Please come and visit us to enjoy the last promotions!
“Thank you for your support during all these year [sic]. Please share the post for us," the company said in its post.
The announcement also came after almost three months of shutdown due to restrictions under the MCO period.
While many businesses made preparations to resume operations under the new relaxed conditions, several chains and smaller businesses - or big names in severely impacted sectors - were forced to permanently shut down.
Speedy listed 14 stores that are still operating nationwide and these stores will be offering the closing down sales. - Mkini
