Entertainment, reflexology centres in Sarawak to be closed indefinitely

Reflexology centres and entertainment outlets are difficult to monitor for SOP compliance, says Douglas Uggah Embas.

KUCHING: The Sarawak disaster management committee today announced that all reflexology centres and entertainment outlets in the state are to be closed indefinitely, effective tomorrow.

The committee chairman, Douglas Uggah Embas, said the decision was made after considering the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in the state, adding that it was difficult to monitor and ensure that such premises adhered to the SOPs.

“We have decided to close all the reflexology and entertainment outlets until further notice so as to curb the spread of Covid-19 effectively,” he said at a press conference today.

He also said Kuching had been categorised as a red zone after 49 Covid-19 cases were reported in the last 14 days.

“A total of 16 cases were reported in the state today, with 12 cases linked to the Baki Cluster and four other local transmission cases. The confirmed cases related to the cluster are aged between seven and 75, including three primary pupils and two secondary students.

“Thus, we have decided that Kampung Haji Baki will be placed under lockdown, starting 6pm tomorrow until Nov 10,” he said.

To date, Sarawak has reported a total of 819 cases, including 19 deaths. - FMT
