Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) today announced a dividend of 5 sen per unit for its Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) fund for 2020.
This is the lowest dividend ever announced since the fund was launched on Jan 2, 1990.
The 10-year historical average for ASB dividend is 7.94 sen per unit, down from an all-time (30-year) average of 9.91 sen per unit.
The actual dividend is 3.5 sen per unit with a bonus of 0.75 sen per unit. Additionally, an additional bonus or "Ehsan" of 0.75 sen per unit would be paid for an investor's first 30,000 units.
PNB chairperson Zeti Aziz said RM7.6 billion would be paid out to 10.2 million investors.
Despite the challenging market environment, ASB has been competitive and its assets had increased by 2.7 percent to RM320.5 billion this year.
"ASB's performance remains competitive compared to other low-risk investment instruments.
"It remains the best choice for individuals with a low-risk profile who wish to invest for the long-term," she said.
