Covid-19: Clerk, 16 cops from Parit Sulong station to undergo self-quarantine

JOHOR BARU: Sixteen lower-ranked personnel and a clerk from Parit Sulong police station near Batu Pahat have been ordered to self-quarantine at home after being identified as having had close contact with three policemen from the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters who tested positive for Covid-19.

Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said 16 of them will undergo quarantine after taking their swab tests today, while the remaining one will do the same tomorrow.

"All the police personnel and the clerk will self-quarantine at home until they receive the results of their swab tests," he told reporters at a media conference today.

Ayob Khan said, however, the public should not be concerned as the Parit Sulong police station is capable of operating as usual.

"Additional personnel, two from Yong Peng police station, and one each from Semerah police station and Sri Medan police station, have been assigned to help with the office work and to handle enquiries," he added. -- BERNAMA
