Deputy Federal Territories Minister Santhara Kumar today urged Wangsa Maju MP Tan Yee Kew to be less confrontational and use the proper channels when highlighting city council matters.
In the case of alleged neglect of the pork section of the Jalan Genting Klang wet market, Santhara said he has checked with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and found that there was no formal request to have the facility refurbished.
"Normally, renovations will be performed upon request by the association or MPs representing the traders.
"I am confident that DBKL will study this complaint (by Tan) and take the appropriate steps... DBKL's Wangsa Maju branch will prepare a report," Santhara (above) told Malaysiakini.
Santhara said his office had received correspondences from the MPs for Bukit Bintang, Seputeh, Titiwangsa, Putrajaya and Bandar Tun Razak.
He said that the problems articulated by these MPs do get solved and urged Tan to do the same.
"Unfortunately, Tan doesn't talk to me about local issues even though we often see each other in Parliament," he said.
Yesterday, Tan said there was "discrimination" by the authorities who refurbished the Jalan Genting Klang wet market but left out the pork section.
Tan claimed that she had repeatedly corresponded with DBKL and Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa but to no avail. - Mkini
