Julau MP Larry Sng has decided to remain as interim Sarawak PKR chairperson.
This was after a "long and open discussion" with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
"Our discussions touched on suitable Dayak leaders in Sarawak PKR, Sarawak PKR’s autonomy, the framework on the selection of candidates for election and our position on working with parties outside of Pakatan Harapan.
"We managed to reach an understanding and I shall remain as (Sarawak PKR) chairperson for the interim," Sng said in a Facebook post tonight.
Sng took over as Sarawak PKR chief earlier this year after his predecessor Baru Bian left the party.
On Tuesday, he announced his resignation as state party chief, citing the state party's top post should be headed by a Dayak leader before the forthcoming state election.
That same night, the Sarawak PKR leadership council rejected Sng's resignation letter.
Sng had said he was willing to be the interim leader only if the party leadership agreed with his request that he be replaced by a Dayak. - mkini
