It's better for Bersatu to be included in the political cooperation with Umno and PAS to create a solid Malay-based political coalition, said PAS deputy spiritual leader Ahmad Yakob.
The Kelantan MB disagreed with Mohamed Khaled Nordin's statement to regain federal power via cooperation between BN and PAS only.
Without naming another party, the Umno vice-president had said that the inclusion of other parties would make "the space a little bit too crowded".
"In my opinion, the bigger (the coalition), the better.
"It's better for all of us to be together, not just between two parties, but all Malay parties have to be on the same boat to retain power," Ahmad (above) said as reported by Harakah Daily.
He added that the Malay parties in the country had clashed with each other for so long which did not benefit the Malays and Islam.
Yesterday, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin uploaded two sets of pictures, each from a meeting he had with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, as well as another meeting with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) supreme council.
The meetings were to discuss strengthening cooperation within the PN government and preparation for the 15th general election.
Ahmad's statement shared the same tone with Bersatu youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal who called for unity among the three parties.
"It's a coalition. Everyone is equally important. Even if each party doesn't have enough numbers (to form the government)," Fayhsal said yesterday.
Meanwhile, Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, in his article for Sinar Harian, reiterated his call for Bersatu to "return" to Umno.
"It's time for the prime minister and all Bersatu leadership and members to return to Umno.
"The truth is that Bersatu's policy, orientation, and ideology are exactly the same with Umno.
"In fact, its leadership and members come from the same 'womb', which is Umno," said Asyraf.
Umno and PAS formed a coalition named Muafakat Nasional last year.
The duo joined forces with Bersatu, which left the Pakatan Harapan coalition in February, to form the PN government with several other parties.
Subsequently, only PAS officially joined the PN coalition with Bersatu, while Umno reiterated its stand to strengthen its cooperation with PAS through Muafakat. - Mkini
