GEORGE TOWN: A monitor lizard made its way to the third floor of a bank on Jalan Dato Keramat here, shocking more than 10 workers there.
In the 5.30pm incident on Monday, the 1.5m-long lizard climbed up three floors from a drain on the ground floor before sneaking into the third-floor office.
Jalan Perak fireman Mohamad Hafiz Fazil, who attended to the emergency call from the bank, said firemen managed to catch the lizard in “no time”.
“The lizard appeared to be tired and did not put up a fight when we used a net to lasso it.
“Monitor lizards can be aggressive and its nails are very sharp and can injure people,” he told FMT.
A video of the incident has been making the rounds on social media. It shows shrieking bank staff standing on their tables and chairs, trying to evade the reptile.
The lizard, appearing to be lost, at one point tried to climb over the counter and onto one of the desks of the employees. - FMT
