Kelantan state assemblypersons have been told to advance any flood aids with their own funds first, and file claims later.
Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob said the state government has yet to evaluate how much flood aid to give, as the flood situation is still ongoing.
"We're telling the elected representatives to make an advance because we don't know how much (aid is needed). That's how it usually is, and they will make claims later," he was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.
He said usually the state government will prepare RM50,000, while the National Disaster Management Agency may allocate a similar amount. There will also be assistance from the Social Welfare Department.
As of 4am today, there were still five temporary flood shelters operating with 576 evacuees staying there.
Ahmad warned that residents should prepare for the possibility of a third wave of flooding, as the Met Department warns of more heavy rain to come. - Mkini
