The Perak legislative assembly has been postponed again because there was currently no government.
Speaker Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid presided over the sitting today as scheduled and spent five minutes on housekeeping before announcing the adjournment.
"In view that the next agenda is the Supply Bill 2021 which cannot proceed based on Article 38(2) of the Perak constitution and due to the current situation, the sitting will be postponed until Dec 16, 2.30pm," he said.
Notable absentees at the five-minute-long sitting today are:
- Abdul Yunus Jamahri (Bersatu-Kuala Kurau)
- Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi (Bersatu-Tulang Sekah)
- Ahmad Faizal Azumu (Bersatu-Chenderiang)
- Zainol Fadzi Paharudin (Bersatu-Sungai Manik)
- Razman Zakaria (PAS-Gunung Semanggol)
- Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin (PAS-Selama)
- Khalil Yahaya (PAS-Kubu Gajah)
- A Sivasubramaniam (Gerakan-Buntong)
- Paul Yong Choo Kiong (IND-Tronoh)
- Nga Kor Ming (DAP-Aulong)
Razman was believed to have been granted an audience at Istana Kinta at 4.30pm while Nga and Faizal were spotted at the Dewan Rakyat.
The Perak government fell last Friday after Chenderiang assemblyperson Ahmad Faizal Azumu lost a vote of confidence in the legislative assembly.
Faizal is the Perak Bersatu chief and Bersatu deputy president.
Following this, Umno - the largest bloc in the Perak assembly with 25 seats and five short of a majority - has been scrambling to form a new government.
Umno leaders have been summoned for audiences by Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah twice but as of yesterday, no one has the majority to form a new government yet.
Most Perak party leaders have indicated that a final solution rests in the national leadership of their respective parties. - Mkini
