KOTA BARU: Police have rearrested a 32-year-old religious teacher for allegedly committing gross indecency on two of his former students two years ago.
The teacher was detained yesterday, two days after he was released on bail after he was charged with committing a similar offence on a businessman recently.
Kelantan police chief, Datuk Shafien Mamat said police picked up the suspect following two separate reports lodged by the former students in Selangor and Penang recently.
He said the two had both studied at a religious school in Machang, and they claimed the incidents happened in 2018.
"The first victim claimed that the incident happened at the suspect's home in Terengganu in May, 2018.
"The victim had gone to the house for treatment. The suspect claimed the act was committed on him while receiving the treatment.
"The second victim also claimed a similar incident occured to him while he was at the school's hostel with the suspect. The incident happened in Nov 2018," he said.
Shafien said the suspect has been remanded for three days to assist police investigations into the case. - NST
