KOTA BARU: Floods continue to worsen in Kelantan with two more relief centres opened and more people were evacuated this evening.
The Islamic Outreach ABIM Kok Lanas in Kota Baru and SK Kubang Kual in Pasir Mas are part of the 12 flood relief centres that have opened to accommodate flood victims, according to the state Welfare Department.
As of 7pm, a total of 369 flood victims were given shelter at the relief centres in four districts.
They are from 97 families who were evacuated in stages since yesterday.
The department also stated that flood relief centres in Pasir Putih recorded the highest victims with 219, followed by Kota Baru (87), Pasir Mas (51) and Tanah Merah (12).
It also said only Golok river remained above danger level at 9m as at 7pm, with other rivers remained below their alert levels.
Golok river recorded a reading of 9.36m, 0.36m above its danger level.
Checks in Rantau Panjang town showed that several low-lying areas have been inundated by 0.2m of floodwater.
The affected areas included Kampung Siram, Kampung Lachang and Kampung Tersang. - NST
