PETALING JAYA: Kelantan police yesterday nabbed an “Ustaz” for allegedly molesting a 30-year-old businessman at a hotel in Kota Bharu.
Kelantan police chief Shafien Mamat confirmed the arrest of the 32-year old suspect, Bernama reported.
In his police report, the victim said he had met the suspect, known as “Ustaz Syamsul” at a supermarket on Dec 14.
Two days later, the suspect, who is a religious teacher at a madrasah in Machang, had allegedly followed the businessman back to his hotel room at 1.15am.
It was then, the victim claimed, that the suspect allegedly molested him.
“The suspect was remanded today to facilitate investigations under Section 377D of the Penal Code,” Shafien was quoted as saying by the national news agency.
If convicted under Section 377D for gross indecency, the suspect faces a jail term of up to two years. - FMT
