PAS-led Yadim pushes to get plus-size pageant cancelled
IndigoKite6964: Here we go again. This is the taste of what it would be like if PAS is on the ruling bench.
"Yadim is confident that the majority, regardless of race and religion, do not condone such programmes that do not benefit the majority and courts Allah's anger," said Yadim chairperson Nasrudin Hassan.
Firstly, what facts do they have that makes them so confident that this statement is true? What gives PAS the right to speak on behalf of other races and religions?
What facts does this religious bigot have that this programme is not condoned and do not benefit the majority?
Mazilamani: To begin with, it takes courage for plus-size women to participate in a pageant and it is intended to build their self-confidence and to seek acceptance in society.
When the world is rejecting racism, gender discrimination and crusading for personal and social rights and freedom, here we someone taking us on the path of regression and dark age.
Gaji Buta: There are many Muslim businessmen and women who are in the cosmetic and fashion wear industries in Malaysia. Many of them are celebrities as well. Please ban all of them first, before sticking your nose in other people's business.
In fact, please also ban all Muslims from the entertainment industry as well, as these may be "exploitative" of women and is a form of "hedonistic" culture.
Kita Orangbiasa: The best he can do is to advise his fellow Muslims not to participate in this event, but calling for the cancellation of a private event, not funded by the government and that has got nothing to do with him, is simply too much.
This is clearly encroaching into the lifestyles of non-Muslims. So long this event does not infringe any laws, what is his problem?
It is people like Nasrudin who brings negative name for the country and no wonder Malaysia has a problem attracting FDI (foreign direct investment).
No foreign investor will invest in our country where we have a rapidly growing trend of these Taliban-style rulings coming from a government agency.
Soon, we will see high unemployment and negative economic growth.
Vijay 47: I fully agree with you, Nasrudin, that Kelantan’s ‘Bible theologian’ Nik Muhammad Zawawi and ‘alcohologist’ Mohd Shaid Rosli from Puncak Alam are not the only ones worthy to catch the public eye on matters of faith and make fools of themselves.
With your exquisite mentality, you are equally entitled to bask in the sunshine and enjoy the slime-light.
So you claim that permitting the Miss/Mrs Plus World to be held in local waters will be sending the wrong signals to the world. The only signals I know are red don’t go, green can go, and black is PAS heart.
If as you aver the prime minister is committed to stopping everything not of benefit, he should have long ago banned your so-called religious party - perhaps you could share with us a single useful thing that PAS has contributed to the nation.
Obviously, protests against Hindu temples, Valentine’s Day, and Chinese New Year lanterns cannot be regarded as beneficial.
Please feel free to continue on your ill-advised, half-witted, bird-brained ventures but do not include other religions in your Islamic fervour – we already have a tough time reaching heaven without having more crosses to bear. Remember, to you your god, to me mine?
Oh, a final suggestion – why don’t you take part in the Mr Plus Pageant? You are sure to take first place.
The Wakandan: With nothing much to do, rather than being idle, they are trying to be seen to do something.
Stating 'every religion', thus they are speaking for other religions which they have no idea about, it has truly become boring and predictable.
Instead of encroaching into other people business and the fact that Malaysia is a multiracial secular country, the amount of money allocated to them would be put to better use if it is to improve their own lots - like education and drug problem.
Kawak: PAS under Abdul Hadi Awang is to join up with Umno to rule this country. The opportunity came when Umno was weakened with the establishment of Bersatu and exodus of some of its MPs.
Now that PAS is part of Perikatan Nasional (PN) government, the time has come for them to enforce their political agenda of turning Malaysia into PAS-style Islamic state.
Their focus has always been on alcohol (not drugs or corruption) as though majority Muslims in Malaysia are consuming it. Next on the list is women. It is always about attire or segregation of sexes in social activities.
We should congratulate MCA, MIC, political parties in Sarawak and Sabah for making it possible for PAS to be part of the PN government.
Malaysia Is Surrealist Art That Can Be Bought: Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim) should just focus their energy on what they were set up to do - promote Islam.
Otherwise, their resources could be much better spent helping out with flood relief efforts in Kelantan and Terengganu.
Joseph_183: Dear Nasrudin, please focus on eradicating corruption before you comment on a pageant that was meant to bring up the self-esteem of plus-size women.
And by the way, what do you think of all the leaders charged with corruption being acquitted once PN came into power or working with a convicted MP from Umno.
Kunta Kinte: This is the precursor of what will look like when PAS get into mainstream politics. Anything that deems to be hedonism will be banned.
Malaysia is blessed with a lot of resources and hardly any natural calamity. Unfortunately, we are not blessed with good leaders, and that negates everything that we have. - Mkini
