Frustrated with the internal power struggle and how the party ignored the interests of the people, a total of 300 members of the Ipoh Barat PKR branch quit the party and joined Gerakan.
Perak Gerakan chairperson See Tean Seng said these individuals quit PKR a year ago and now officially joined Gerakan after receiving the membership application form.
“Thus far, a total of 300 former PKR members from the Ipoh Barat division have expressed their desire to join us. Of that number, about 50 membership forms were completed and submitted. There are also applications that are still under review.
“We accept their application and will provide information on our struggle,” he said in a press conference at Wisma Gerakan in Ipoh today.
Meanwhile, a representative of former PKR members, Alfaizal Shahul Hamid, 44, said they made the decision to quit due to power struggles that often occur in the PKR leadership apart from people’s problems have been ignored since the 14th general election.
“Their struggles are only for themselves and not for the people. Therefore, I joined other members who quit the party,” he said in the same press conference.
