PETALING JAYA: Support staff in schools will only be allowed to return to duty when schools reopen on Oct 3 if they are fully vaccinated, the education ministry said.
In a circular dated Sept 3, it said security guards, cleaners as well as canteen operators must be fully vaccinated to enter the premises.
They may only enter the schools after the 14th day of getting the second dose of the Pfizer, AstraZeneca or Sinovac jab, whereas Johnson & Johnson and CanSino recipients can only go back to work 28 days after getting immunised.
“Therefore, as service contractors, you are required to ensure workers under your supervision have been fully vaccinated before entering school premises,” said ministry deputy secretary-general (Planning and Development) Noor Azman Abdul Rahman.
Last week, education minister Radzi Jidin said teachers who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 will not be allowed to return to schools for physical classes. - FMT
