Actor Zul Ariffin under probe over sexually charged scene - Annuar

Communications and Multimedia Minister Annuar Musa has reported that actor Zul Ariffin is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.

Taking to Twitter, Annuar explained that this was a result of a YouTube video shared by the actor which allegedly broke the law.

“The legal process is underway. Actor Zul Arifin (above) will be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act because of a YouTube post that broke the law.

“What is certain is that the scenes like that will not be allowed to be screened during the month of Ramadan or any other month. Take care of (our) values and culture,” said Annuar this morning.

This comes after a 23-second teaser clip of a sexually charged scene involving Zul and his co-star Siti Hariesa from the drama ‘Perempuan Itu’ was uploaded onto the actor’s social media.

The video is no longer available on the actor’s Instagram but has been shared by others on social media.

In the clip, Zul is pushed against a wall by Siti Hariesa before he takes off his shirt and is seen embracing her.

That scene is interspersed with another scene where Siti Hariesa - dressed in a maid outfit - feeds whipped cream to Zul before he lifts her up and embraces her.

Previously, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Idris Ahmad chastised the sexually suggestive scene involving the actor.

Idris had described the teaser video of the drama ‘Perempuan Itu’ as stepping over the line.

Following backlash from politicians and the public alike, Zul has since issued a public apology over the uploaded scene.

“It is with an open heart that I acknowledge all the feedback from many people regarding the video clip that was shared before this.

“I apologise to everyone who was affected by the upload of that video,” he wrote on his Instagram story.
