Anti-hopping law: PM promised another constitutional amendment - Anwar

PARLIAMENT | Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has promised Pakatan Harapan a constitutional amendment bill in relation to the upcoming anti-hopping laws.

In a statement, Harapan chairperson Anwar Ibrahim said this was conveyed during a meeting today between Harapan top brass and the prime minister in Parliament.

The anti-hopping law is the main component of Harapan's memorandum of understanding (MOU) that was signed with Ismail Sabri last year.

The agreement saw Ismail Sabri's government promising a slew of reforms in exchange for Harapan's pledge not to use their votes to oust the prime minister or block the government's budget.

Since December last year, defacto Law Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has been conducting several rounds of engagements with lawmakers on the bill.

The other, albeit less complicated, legislation that Harapan demanded as part of the MOU was term limits for the prime minister.

Revise Johor polls campaign SOPs

Anwar together with DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu urged Ismail Sabri to loosen restrictions for the Johor polls campaign.

The campaign rules for the Johor election limits gatherings to party headquarters only with a maximum attendance of 100 and these functions must end at 10pm.
