PKR organising secretary Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has rebuked DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng for the latter’s comments on the forthcoming PKR party election.
He said Lim should have refrained from making such comments to avoid stirring controversy between the two parties.
“As someone who has long been involved in politics, Lim should understand that PKR has its own processes, including to elect the party leadership.
“He should have refrained from commenting on something that would only invite speculation and controversy regarding PKR.
“I and my friends in PKR certainly won’t be saying much about DAP’s internal affairs, let alone to tell DAP’s young leaders what they should do in party elections. I hope Lim has learnt a lesson on this,” Nik Nazmi (above) said in a Facebook post last night.
During an exclusive interview with Malaysiakini on Wednesday, Lim responded to PKR member Rafizi Ramli’s criticism of Pakatan Harapan’s electoral strategy in recent years.
Rafizi had also claimed that Harapan’s presidential council was contemplating a pact with Perikatan Nasional for the forthcoming general election.

Lim said he believes Rafizi’s criticism is directed at PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and suggested that Rafizi - who is vying for the PKR deputy presidency - should run for the presidency instead.
He clarified that as far as DAP is concerned, there has been no discussion of an electoral pact with PN.
“So, his (Rafizi's) target is Anwar. I think that since this is for his campaign purposes for deputy president, I don't want to get involved.
“Perhaps, instead of contesting for deputy president, he should contest for the president’s post straight,” Lim said.
He added that he does not want to get into a crossfire between Anwar and Rafizi, but wanted to set the record straight on the matter.
Rafizi had previously said he did not want to run for the party presidency in order to avoid rocking the boat and diverting attention from the more important issues. - Mkini
