Cheremi Tarman appointed as Shah Alam's Mayor

 

Shah Alam City Council acting mayor Cheremi Tarman (right) appointed as mayor of Shah Alam, receiving his letter of appointment from Selangor state secretary Datuk Haris Kasim at the state secretariat building, earlier this morning.

CHEREMI Tarman has been appointed as Shah Alam's 11th mayor, taking over from Dr Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid.

He had been the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) acting mayor following Dr Nor Fuad's promotion and transfer to the Transport Ministry as the deputy chief secretary (Management).

The appointment was announced in a Facebook post on Thursday (Jan 18), after Selangor state secretary Datuk Haris Kasim handed over the appointment letter and mandate to Cheremi during a simple ceremony at Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah earlier in the morning.

Cheremi is a civil engineer by profession from Louisiana State University in the United States and was previously acting mayor of MBSA, director of the Petaling Jaya City Council Engineering Department and had also served as the Selayang Municipal Council deputy president.

Outside the state secretariat building, Cheremi said he was grateful to the state government for entrusting him with the mayor's post.

“I will continue to create a livable city and focus on basic services like road repairs, streetlights, waste management, landscaping and would hold more engagement with the community,” he added. - Star
