Muftis must object to jihad misuse, help homeless Muslims

It is most interesting and sad for me to see that no mufti so far has said anything about the concept of jihad being used to allow donations by Muslims to help finance a slander or fitnah.

It is also sad for me as a Muslim that no mufti has sounded concern for Muslims with children having nowhere to go but to sleep in a car for three months.

Why is advice not given to homeless Muslims to sleep at the mosque? Will mosques allow homeless Muslims with children to shelter for three months?

In my study about the Prophet Muhammad's mosque, there were people called the ahlul Suffa who slept in his mosque. The Suffa were homeless after their migration and they were also poor.

Why is there not a religious campaign for homeless families thrown out of their rental homes to sleep and shelter temporarily at any mosque?

The mosque committee could contact zakat or welfare people for help or ask the community for aid.

We should be embarrassed and ashamed as Muslim Malays, being the majority with the three biggest political parties and billions of ringgit in Islamic institutions. Yet, we allow little children to sleep in car boots and back seats.

A family was living in their car until Human Resources Minister Steven Sim offered them aid recently

What does it mean to Islam if we have billions invested in mosques but cannot spare even 100 square feet for a homeless family? Where then lies the dignity and compassion of our great religion, Islam?

Muftis and Islamic institutions are quick and very detailed in teaching Muslims what to say and not to say as well as what to wear and not to wear plus which place to go and not to go.

But they are silent on the plight of the homeless and those who use religion for slander and political game plans. - Mkini
