Come forward, IGP tells women who were victims of lewd gestures

 

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said the investigation would be conducted thoroughly and transparently.

PETALING JAYA: 

Any woman who has seen policemen making lewd gestures towards them should make a police report immediately, says Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain.

He says the woman who alleged this happened to her during a protest in Kuala Lumpur on Friday should come forward and lodge a police report to facilitate further investigations.

“If there are other victims who have experienced similar incidents, they are encouraged to come forward,” he told Bernama today.

Razarudin said Bukit Aman’s integrity and standards compliance department (JIPS) has launched an investigation into Friday’s alleged incident.

He said the probe would be thorough and conducted transparently.

Earlier, a social media post by the woman on the alleged incident went viral. She said she was taking photographs during the protest on human rights when she was targeted by the policeman.

The woman claimed the officer repeated the gestures multiple times to make sure she noticed him. - FMT
