KUALA LUMPUR: There was not a single goal to see in Malaysia's lacklustre 0-0 draw with Singapore in an Asean Cup football match on Friday.
But the 32,000-plus fans saw something big - a banner of FAM president Tan Sri Hamidin Amin displayed at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
It had a message: "Your services are still needed for the nation's football."
Former sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin posted a screenshot of the banner on his Instagram Story with the caption: "Greatest banner in the history of football banners."
Some football fans wonder about the tone of Khairy's comments.
Hamidin has announced that he will not seek re-election for the 2025-2029 FAM presidency.
Incidentally, Khairy's name has been floated as a possible contender for the FAM presidency. However, he has dismissed the talk, stating that his focus is elsewhere. - NST
