The Borneo Post reported that the 52-year-old man was arrested by MACC at around 6.35pm yesterday, and remanded for five days from today until Dec 15 following an application by MACC at the Kuching magistrates’ court.
He was represented by counsel Roger Chin and Daniel Ling.
The report quoted a source as saying the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009 for the corrupt acceptance of gratification.
Previously, a civil servant and a company director with a “Datuk” title, aged between 40 and 50, were reportedly remanded in connection with the case for five days from last Thursday.
The Datuk was released on MACC bail yesterday, while the civil servant’s remand was extended for another three days.
They are believed to have colluded and conspired, between 2022 and 2024, to enable several companies to obtain construction projects issued by a district public works office in Sarawak. - FMT
