PETALING JAYA
Wanita Perikatan Nasional chief Mas Ermieyati Samsudin has expressed full confidence in coalition chairman Muhyiddin Yassin helping to address PAS’s call for a renegotiation of leadership appointments within the coalition.

She said Muhyiddin has the experience to decide on the matter.

“There is a proper way to (address) this. I am confident in the credibility, wisdom and leadership of our chairman and the top leadership,” she told a press conference after chairing a Wanita Bersatu meeting today.

Her remarks come after PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin said that Muhyiddin should consider redistributing leadership roles in the coalition as Bersatu’s hold over key positions could create discord in the opposition pact.

Hashim said he had previously highlighted that PAS, which governs four states and has strong grassroots support across the country, should be given appropriate roles or positions within PN, reported Utusan Malaysia.

The call for reallocations follows the resignation of PAS vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar as PN treasurer on Dec 15.

Samsuri’s resignation came after the PN Supreme Council confirmed on Dec 9 that several Bersatu leaders had been appointed to top posts in PN, including Azmin Ali as PN secretary-general.

Mas Ermieyati also gave her assurance that the relationship between PAS and Bersatu remained strong, saying she had reached out to Nuridah Salleh, the Wanita PAS chief, to arrange a meeting to discuss the direction of the coalition’s women’s wing.

“So, I reject any claims that PAS and Bersatu have issues. Whatever it is, I leave it to the leadership,” she said

“My appointment as Wanita PN chief is to ensure the women’s wing becomes a movement that can further strengthen PN, especially as we approach by-elections.” - FMT
