Unity government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil today slammed Muda acting president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz for accusing the prime minister of hypocrisy following Musa Aman’s appointment as Sabah governor.
Citing Article 1 of Sabah’s constitution, Fahmi said the prime minister had no role whatsoever in the appointment process.
Sabah’s constitution states that the governor is appointed by the king at his discretion, after consultation with the Sabah chief minister.
“Before you make such a statement that has no factual basis, you should read Article 1(1) of the Sabah constitution which clearly states the duties and responsibilities in the Sabah governor’s appointment,” Fahmi said on X.
The PKR information chief also attached a link to the constitution, saying Amira could download it to read for herself.
Amira accused Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of being the “biggest hypocrite” after Musa’s appointment as governor. The PKR president had previously criticised the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ decision in 2020 to free Musa of 46 corruption and money laundering charges.
The Puteri Wangsa assemblyman also acknowledged that it was Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor who had proposed Musa’s name, but said he was part of the unity government as chairman of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.
Separately, Muda information chief Leben Siddarth urged Pakatan Harapan to state its stance on Musa’s appointment as governor, again citing his previous graft case. - FMT
