Terengganu braces for third wave of floods

PETALING JAYA: 

Terengganu is expecting a third wave of floods to hit the east coast state with continuous heavy rain forecast over the next three days.

Infrastructure, utility and rural development executive councillor Hanafiah Mat said areas within a 5km radius of the main river basins in Kemaman, Besut, Setiu and Hulu Terengganu were at the highest risk of experiencing floods.

He advised residents to be on the watch for floods and to comply with the directives of authorities, Sinar Harian reported.

Earlier, the meteorological department warned of continuous heavy rain in four states over the next three days from today, including the whole of Kelantan and Terengganu.
