JPJ director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli said the minors had been taken into custody and their parents summoned, Berita Harian reported.
He also said that JPJ was considering action against the guardians for allowing their children to ride motorcycles illegally.
“Investigations revealed that the two minors were participating in illegal racing on modified motorcycles with unauthorised changes to the exhaust and braking systems.
“This is deeply concerning. Not only are they underage, they were also riding dangerously on illegally modified motorcycles,” Aedy was quoted as saying at an event hosted by Kuala Lumpur JPJ yesterday.
During the operation, Aedy said JPJ issued 196 summonses for traffic violations and seized 19 motorcycles for illegal structural, engine, and exhaust modifications.
“The most frequent offences recorded were riding without a valid licence and unauthorised vehicle modifications,” he said. - FMT
