“Let’s all ignore Nooryana Najib’s annual whinging about her criminal father this Hari Raya”

IT seems that every time the festive Hari Raya mood is felt, it has become a tradition for Nooryana Najib, daughter of  disgraced former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak, to take to social media to loudly whinge or paint a picture of her father languishing in jail.

Last year, she posted a video on Instagram whinging: “Hari Raya this year is different for us as we need to go through Raya without my father. This Raya is meaningless for the family as daddy would have been with us but now he has to celebrate by himself in prison.”

In 2023, Nooryana posted similar Raya complaints about Najib’s criminal conviction.

Editor’s Note: Below are some samples of the 2025’s nostalgia:

It’s understandable when daughters miss their fathers. But let’s be honest – Najib is not in jail because of an unfair punishment.

He was convicted of illegally stealing millions of ringgit from the rakyat in the infamous global 1MDB scandal – and was originally sentenced to 12 years in prison.

That’s not a small mistake – that’s an international kleptocratic crime that has negatively impacted millions of Malaysians.

It has also lowered the reputation of the country in the eyes of our Asia neighbours and that of the world. Malaysian taxpayers are paying for Najib’s criminality. We are still paying for it.

Incessant moaning

Nooryana might be trying to obtain sympathy from the  Bossku supporter base through her endless lamentations but it sounds even more tone-deaf from someone moaning from the inappropriate comfort of her luxury properties and the MATRADE (Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation) board.

She still has not resigned from the MATRADE board since her irresponsible appointment last year despite the ethical concerns with her role there.

Also, let’s not forget Nooryana’s complicity at the start of the 1MDB scandal either: the notorious photo of Nooryana and her family on a European luxury yacht to celebrate the start of the 1MDB scandal’s SRC “investments” speaks a thousand words.

Hari Raya is about reflecting on one’s behaviour, apologetic remorse and community. Najib and his daughter represent the opposite. And the country is already tired of their constant moaning.

Nooryana’s embarrassing social media posts try to paint her father as a victim but the truth is he is exactly where he belongs. Let’s call them out for what their annual triple-A stunt really is: Avoiding any accountability.

Perhaps, instead of focusing on a criminal and his equally disgraceful daughter this Hari Raya, we could all celebrate the presence of many invisible Malaysians who continue to honestly lead with the values of integrity and community that the festivity still represents.

Pay her no attention.

So, let’s no longer allow Nooryana Najib’s annual pearl-clutching and dark moaning to overshadow the positive spirit of Hari Raya.

It is just like her to make the holiday all about her and her daddy. Instead, let’s all make a concerted effort to ignore her sorrowful lamentations while focusing on the true spirit of Hari Raya – cherishing those who are with us, and looking ahead with a hopeful outlook for a better future for Malaysia.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!
