KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, performed the Hari Raya Aidilfitri prayers at Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan today.
Accompanied by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, the royal couple arrived at the mosque dressed in matching yellow attire.
His Majesty joined leaders and worshippers who had gathered as early as 7.30am for the prayers.
Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, both wearing blue baju raya.
Several other dignitaries were present, including Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Naim Mokhtar, and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
Following the prayers, which ended around 9am, Sultan Ibrahim and the other leaders took time to greet members of the public, exchanging festive wishes in the spirit of Aidilfitri. - NST
