Baling police chief Azmi Mokhtar said the body was discovered at 3.15pm by the boy’s family members, who were searching along the banks of Sungai Kupang, Berita Harian reported.
“The body was found about 500m from the victim’s house at the department of irrigation and drainage quarters at Kampung Landak Paya, Kupang.
“A post-mortem is expected to be conducted at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital tomorrow,” he was quoted as saying.
Baling fire and rescue station chief Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil said a team was deployed to the scene to help retrieve the body from the riverbank.
The search for Fayyad Affan had been suspended yesterday evening after authorities found no new leads.
The boy, who also had a speech disorder, had been reported missing last Friday after he wandered out of his house, believed through the back door. - FMT
