KUCHING: A building floor collapse during an Aidilfitri celebration in Kampung Goebilt left four people injured earlier today.
The incident occurred at around 11am, with at least 10 people gathered in the house to celebrate Hari Raya.
A spokesperson for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said they received a distress call at 11.10am.
The Volunteer Fire Brigade responded immediately, with firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya Fire and Rescue Station arriving soon after.
"Upon arrival, it was found that the living room floor, which was supported by a temporary structure, had collapsed," the spokesperson said according to Berita Harian.
"Four people, two women and two men, were injured and rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital before rescuers arrived at the scene," the spokesperson added, adding that the other six individuals were unharmed.
"Firefighters conducted a thorough inspection of the building's structure and confirmed that the house remained safe for occupancy," the spokesperson said. - NST
