
BNM governor Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said Aznan will oversee the supervision and regulation sector following the finance minister’s approval of his appointment.
“He will continue to serve on various BNM committees,” he said in a statement.
These committees include the reserve management committee, risk management committee, financial stability committee, joint policy committee, enforcement committee, digital and technology committee, and crisis management committee.
Aznan holds a degree in economics and accounting from the University of Bristol in the UK.
Prior to his previous appointment in BNM in 2019 as an assistant governor, he served in several departments in the central bank, including financial conglomerates supervision, the governor’s office, Islamic banking and takaful.
Aznan joined BNM in 2004. Before that he was assistant general manager at Danamodal Nasional Berhad and assistant manager at AmBank Group.
He is currently the chairman of International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation’s board audit committee, as well as a member of the board of directors and board audit and risk committee of the Labuan Financial Services Authority, among others.
BNM also announced the appointment of Cindy Siah as assistant governor and Jessica Chew as a technical adviser on financial stability matters. - FMT
