
Chang said PKR needs leaders who do not merely ride on the party’s success but have demonstrated commitment to the reform struggle from the start.
“I have personally experienced the ups and downs of this party. We have hit rock bottom and faced betrayal. Yet, I have remained loyal to the party because I believe PKR is the party of the future,” he said in a Facebook post.
Chang is Tanjung Malim MP and minister for science, technology and innovation.
The four vice-presidents elected in 2022 are Selangor PKR chairman Amirudin Shari, the Selangor menteri besar; Negeri Sembilan PKR chairman Aminuddin Harun, the Negeri Sembilan menteri besar; Chang, and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Setiawangsa MP and minister of natural resources and environmental sustainability.
Amirudin, Aminuddin and Nik Nazmi have announced that they would be defending their positions.
Last week, former Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar and PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil also threw their hats into the ring.
Elections for the committee members and women and youth wing leaders at the division level will be held from April 11-20.
The elections for the central leadership council, and national heads of the women and youth wings will be held on May 24. - FMT
