In a statement, DBKL said the proposal for the construction of a mosque on land owned by a private company on Jalan Masjid India had attracted attention due to a small portion which houses the Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple.
DBKL said it would not carry out any demolition activities at the temple’s current site, adding that the temple could continue to operate as usual until the relocation process is complete.
“DBKL assures (the public) that every step it takes will align with the principles of religious freedom guaranteed by the Federal Constitution,” it said.
It added that the relocation process would be carried out transparently and fairly, involving discussions with stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation. - FMT
