All Malaysian telecommunications users will receive a minimum 5GB additional data quota in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
In a press conference at his ministry today, Fahmi said the extra data will be valid for a minimum of 24 hours.
“This is not paid by the government. The telcos (companies) are giving it,” he said.
The companies involved are CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, TM Texh, YTL Communications, Pavo Comms, Tune Talk, redONE, REDtone and XOX Com.
Fahmi said the data will be provided on the first day of Aidilfitri.
For those who have multiple accounts under the same name, only one of the accounts will receive the free data, he said.
“It is hoped that the provision of Rahmah rebate incentives in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri will help strengthen relationships, especially through online communication, as well as enliven this year’s celebration,” he said.
On the matter of toll discounts for the festive celebration, Fahmi said Public Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi will make an announcement this evening. - Mkini
