PETALING JAYA
The economy ministry has introduced a new guideline limiting the submission of applications for high-value projects costing over RM300 million to once every two years.

Its minister, Rafizi Ramli, said the window for applications is now open under Rolling Plan 1 from March 1 to March 31.

“If applications cannot be submitted within this period, they can be submitted next in 2027. Applications for projects worth less than RM300 million can be submitted every year,” Bernama quoted him as saying during Ministers’ Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Rafizi said this guideline aims to streamline Putrajaya’s implementation of development projects and avoid leakages, financial waste and project delays.

He was responding to Riduan Rubin (Ind-Tenom), who asked what his ministry is doing to streamline the implementation of 13th Malaysia Plan projects, especially in Sabah.

“One of the factors behind delays or weaknesses in project implementation is a mismatch between planning and project size,” he said.

In response to a supplementary question on unused development allocations, Rafizi said current regulations require that all unspent money be returned to the federal government. - FMT
