PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob returned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today for his seventh round of interviews.
He is being investigated for corruption and money laundering, where he is a named suspect.
The Bera member of Parliament arrived at the MACC headquarters at 9.54am.
Members of the press had gathered from 9am to cover the developments.
This marks his sixth day of questioning.
Last Thursday, he was questioned for nearly five hours before leaving at 2.51pm.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said a money changer had been arrested as the latest suspect in the investigation.
The suspect was initially remanded for two days to assist with the probe but was released after reporting heart problems.
To date, the MACC has seized RM170 million in cash, held in various foreign currencies, along with 16kg of gold bullion valued at RM7 million.
The commission has also frozen 13 bank accounts containing over RM2 million in relation to the case.
Ismail Sabri had previously declared his assets to the MACC on Feb 10 and was questioned by the commission on Feb 19.
Following his initial round of questioning, his subsequent sessions were postponed due to health issues.
Ismail Sabri had previously pledged to continue cooperating with the authorities until the investigation against him is concluded. - NST
