KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri's statement recording will resume once he obtains several required documents for the investigation.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki told the New Straits Times that the documents, related to his assets, need to be obtained from various financial institutions.

His future statement recording will take place once he obtains the documents.

"These documents pertain to his assets and need to be obtained from various financial institutions," Azam said.

Azam added that the session will proceed as soon as all relevant documents are available.

Earlier today, Ismail Sabri left the MACC headquarters at 3.05pm, after being questioned for about five hours.

When asked if he would be questioned again tomorrow, Ismail Sabri responded with "Selamat Hari Raya."

Today also marked his sixth day of questioning by the graft busters.

Azam had said a money changer was arrested as the latest suspect in the investigation.

The suspect was initially remanded for two days to assist with the probe but was released after reporting heart problems.

As of now, MACC has seized RM170 million in cash, held in various foreign currencies, and 16kg of gold bullion valued at RM7 million.

The commission has also frozen 13 bank accounts containing over RM2 million related to the case.

Ismail Sabri had previously declared his assets to MACC on Feb 10 and was questioned on Feb 19.

He has pledged full cooperation with the authorities until the investigation concludes. - NST
