Sultan Sharafuddin said TH is currently being managed by professionals who are experienced in managing major corporations, compared with previously, Utusan Malaysia reported.
He said this change had proven to be beneficial as shown by its improved dividend payouts through the years, citing TH’s profit distribution of 3.25% after zakat for 2024, its highest since 2018.
“I hope that TH’s management and top leadership will continue to be free from the involvement of politicians,” the sultan was quoted as saying.
Last week, religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar said this year’s TH payout would amount to RM2.92 billion, which would be distributed to more than 9.54 million depositors.
He also said this year’s dividend was driven by TH’s stronger investment performance and ongoing efforts to optimise its operational costs.
Last year, for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2023, TH had declared a profit distribution of 3.1% after zakat, maintaining the same rate for a fourth consecutive year. - FMT
