Alor Gajah police chief Ashari Abu Samah said police received a call from the owner that he was robbed of two trays containing more than 50 gold bracelets in his shop at Pekan Kuala Sungai Baru at about 2.20pm.
Bernama reported that the 49-year-old shop owner was unaware of the robber entering, as he was distracted by his phone, and only realised what was happening when the man pointed a gun at him.
He said he ran into his office with his two children, aged 10 and seven.
Ashari said the shop owner later heard the sound of glass shattering, and found the display case broken and the gold items missing when he emerged from his office.
He said a witness reported seeing a man dressed in black behaving suspiciously before entering the shop. The man was seen fleeing on a motorcycle parked nearby.
He said police found a plastic toy gun left on the shop floor. - FMT
