
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has issued a notice of intent for licence suspension to the licence holder of Era FM radio station over three of its DJs who allegedly mocked a religious festival.
"The licence holder has been given 30 days to submit a response before any decision is made," the MCMC said in a statement today.
The commission added that it would be submitting an investigation paper on the case involving the three DJs to the deputy public prosecutor tomorrow.
"Following the case, MCMC summoned Astro's top management yesterday.
"An investigation paper has been opened under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
"Statements from the parties involved have been recorded to assist in the investigation," the statement said.
It was reported today that police investigators are finalising their probe into a video involving three Era FM radio DJs who allegedly mocked a religious festival.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that six individuals, including the three DJs, had their statements recorded earlier today. - FMT
