In a Facebook post today, preacher Firdaus Wong shared the notice of summons, saying the administrator, known only as Tamrim, was ordered to be present at the MCMC office in Cyberjaya at 8pm today.
“I am not sure what this is for, but if any lawyer is free to help, please contact Tamrim at 013-384-7729,” he said.
According to the notice, Tamrim was summoned for an investigation under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
The Facebook group in question, called Rumah Ibadat Haram Dibina Dimana Hari Ini? (Where Are Illegal Temples Being Built Today?), calls on its members to “do the right thing” about temples allegedly built illegally in their areas.
It instructs its members to get the coordinates and a picture of the illegal construction, and also check via the survey and mapping department’s MyLOT app on whether the lot is registered.
“Make a complaint via the Respons Rakyat app or directly via the Public Complaints Management System portal.
“Upload a picture of your report in the (Facebook group’s) comments (section) with the #1hari1report (#1day1report) hashtag for reference,” says the group in its header. - FMT
