KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended financial aid to elderly woman Mazanah Hashim, who is caring for her disabled grandson in Permatang Pasir, Permatang Pauh, Penang.
The cash donation was handed over to the woman by his political secretary Datuk Ahmad Farzan Fauzi.
"The burden she carries is very heavy, and I am here not only to offer comfort but also to help lift her out of hardcore poverty," said Ahmad Farhan in a post on his Facebook.
He said through a collaborative effort by the Pulau Pinang Zakat Board and the Social Welfare Department, further aid will be provided to ensure Mazanah's family gets out of hardcore poverty immediately.
"I hope this will help Puan Mazanah and her family live a better life. May their future be more secure and all their affairs be made easier," he said.
