PN chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan said the letter is aimed at obtaining more detailed information from the government about allocations for opposition MPs.
“During the administration of (former prime minister) Ismail Sabri Yaakob, we (PN) invited them (the opposition) to form a committee.
“Now, suddenly, they send us a draft. I don’t want to comment further. There should have been a committee formed first to present the government’s proposals, and whether we agreed to it or not,” Utusan Malaysia quoted Takiyuddin as telling reporters after a forum in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, tonight.
Last month, deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof said the government had agreed to establish a committee to discuss proposals on allocations for opposition MPs.
He said the committee was needed to carefully assess opposition proposals and reach a comprehensive, consensus-based solution.
PN had previously rejected a draft memorandum of understanding from the government regarding allocations for its MPs.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had said there were no conditions requiring opposition MPs to support him in order to receive allocations for their constituencies. - FMT
