
The ranking, compiled by global data platform Statista and American weekly news magazine Newsweek, listed Sunway Medical at 193rd place, and Gleneagles KL at 204th.
The two hospitals, which were the only Malaysian hospitals to make the list, also improved on their previous rankings.
In the 2024 edition, Gleneagles KL was ranked 223rd while Sunway Medical took 233rd spot. It was the first time that Malaysian hospitals were added to the list.
Singapore General Hospital was ranked ninth in this year’s list, followed by the city-state’s National University Hospital (80th), Tan Tock Seng Hospital (101st), Mount Elizabeth Hospital-Orchard (111th) and Changi General Hospital (138th).
Thailand had one hospital on the list – the Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok – which was ranked 100th. No other Southeast Asian nations made the list.
The top spot was held by Mayo Clinic-Rochester in the US, followed by Cleveland Clinic, which is also in the US, and Toronto General-University Health Network in Canada.
Newsweek said the rankings are based on online surveys of medical experts, data on patient experience, as well as hospital quality metrics. It said more than 2,400 hospitals globally were evaluated this year. - FMT
