An MACC source said the suspects, in their 50s, were arrested between 2pm and 8pm yesterday in Penang.
The source said the managing director was arrested at the state MACC office. The other, an unemployed man believed to be the main suspect, was nabbed at a restaurant, where he was allegedly paid the bribe.
According to the source, the main suspect was detained with three cheques for nearly RM1 million, given by a director of another sand supply company.
Besides the cheques, the anti-graft agency also seized four mobile phones.
MACC deputy chief commissioner Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya, when contacted, confirmed the arrests and said that one witness has had his statement recorded so far. - FMT
