Chinese national nabbed over 2 sex offence cases on LRT, MRT

One of the incidents took place in a train on the Kelana Jaya LRT line, where the suspect was allegedly caught taking upskirt photos of a woman.

 A 20-year-old Chinese national has been arrested by police for allegedly being involved in two separate cases of sexual assault and sexual harassment on the Kelana Jaya LRT and Putrajaya MRT lines.

Brickfields police chief Hoo Chang Hook said one of the incidents occurred on April 9 at the Kuchai Lama MRT station, with the victim being hugged by the suspect from behind without her consent.

The victim, a 22-year-old beauty therapist, also claimed to have been followed by the suspect when she wanted to go to the toilet.

Separately, railway operator Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said the suspect had allegedly sexually harassed a female passenger while in a train on the Kelana Jaya LRT line.

He was allegedly caught redhanded taking upskirt photos of a woman by members of the public.

Hoo said the suspect was arrested on the night of April 9 and remanded until April 24.

“The suspect is a male Chinese national who is unemployed,” he said in a statement.

The case is being probed under Section 354 of the Penal Code for use of criminal force with intent to outrage a person’s modesty and Section 6(1) of the Immigration Act for not having valid travel documents. - FMT
