Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Umno has nothing to hide over the royal commission of inquiry into Tabung Haji, stressing that the party itself pushed for the inquiry to be established.
“Umno raised the issue, and the supreme council approved that I bring the matter to the cabinet for the government to establish an RCI,” he was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia.
However, Ismail Sabri (above) said he was never briefed on the report’s findings before he left office, noting that he only knew that investigations had been completed and no charges were filed against anyone.
The former premier added that it was up to the current administration to decide whether to release the report, and opined it should be made public.
Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has cast doubt on the viability of a BN-Perikatan Nasional administration in Negeri Sembilan, questioning which coalition's manifesto would take precedence if they formed the next state government.
Muhyiddin reportedly said it was unclear how they could govern based on two separate manifestos with potentially conflicting promises.

BN and PN have forged an electoral understanding for the state polls, with the former contesting 25 seats and the latter 11.
Bersatu, which has since left PN, is contesting 24 seats on its own, while Pakatan Harapan is fielding candidates in all 36 constituencies.
The army said it has taken action against the perpetrators of the incident that left 25-year-old commando Abdul Hamid Talib in a vegetative state, including terminating their service.
“At the same time, the police investigation has also been completed, and any further action is subject to the legal process,” the army’s strategic communications branch said in a statement today.
It added that Hamid received the “best” medical treatment and appropriate welfare aid since the incident in March that gave him severe head trauma.
