Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman says members of Parliament’s select committee on health will personally deliver the memorandum to convey Malaysians’ concerns.

During the debate on the 2027 budget in the Dewan Rakyat, she also questioned what the government plans to do about the haze that has repeatedly affected the country.
Malaysia has been affected by haze from forest and peatland fires in Indonesia in recent weeks. This morning, a total of 30 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy air pollutant index (API) readings.
On Oct 7, Greenpeace Malaysia handed a memorandum to eight government MPs, including Young Syefura, urging action against companies allegedly linked to the haze.
The group said its findings identified 20 companies, including Malaysian and Singaporean-linked firms, associated with fire hotspots.
Meanwhile, Singapore has stepped up action against companies linked to the fires, issuing notices to three more Indonesian firms today. This brings the number of companies targeted under its transboundary haze law to 10. - FMT
